About Be Deliberate Organization
We're a Dallas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit creating welcoming spaces for refugees, asylum seekers, and families in crisis. We are more than a furniture organization — we are a community.
Our Story
What started as a simple realization grew into a movement. We noticed that refugee families arriving in Dallas with nothing but hope often spent their first nights sleeping on cold, bare floors. No bed. No pillow. No table to eat at.
Dallas is one of the top cities in the nation for refugee resettlement. Every year, hundreds of families from Afghanistan, Myanmar, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Syria, Ukraine, and other countries arrive through resettlement agencies in North Texas.
Be Deliberate was founded to fill that gap. We collect gently used furniture from the Dallas community, inspect it for quality, and deliver complete apartment setups to families on the day they arrive. We don't just drop off boxes — we assemble beds, set tables, and arrange rooms so families can sleep comfortably on night one.

What We Do
Collect Quality Furniture
We source gently used sofas, beds, tables, dressers, and kitchen essentials from donors across Dallas, ensuring every piece meets our standard for a dignified home.
Deliver & Set Up
Our volunteer crews don't just transport furniture. We assemble, arrange, and prepare each apartment so it's ready for the family walking through the door.
Build Lasting Community
Beyond the physical items, we bridge the gap between long-time Dallas residents and our newest neighbors through volunteer events, storytelling, and intentional friendship.
Why Dallas?
The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is home to one of the largest refugee resettlement communities in the United States. Neighborhoods like Vickery Meadows are among the most diverse in the country, with residents from dozens of countries living side by side.
Resettlement agencies in Dallas — including the International Rescue Committee (IRC), Catholic Charities, and Refugee Services of Texas — work to help families navigate their first months. Be Deliberate partners with these agencies to ensure that the physical foundation of a home is ready before families arrive.
